MTV’s Hottest MCs In The Game TOP 10

(Side Note: I love these shirts, and if you do too and you’re on O’ahu check Dig Lifestyles. They carry these.)

MTV’s NEW list premiers tonight at 10PM Eastern.

Between episodes of Tila Tequila and NEXT I wasn’t even aware that MTV actually pretended to know anything about music anymore. I just want to include this quote from the “Where’s Nas?” section of last year’s article to show you what I mean:

“Part of the confusion about our debate was folks actually thought we were putting Nas against Jim Jones, when that really wasn’t the conversation. The question was asked who should be added to the list, and some felt Jim Jones. When asked who should be taken off the answers ranged from Nas to Common to Jay-Z. In the end Nas was the victim, which if you saw the expression on my face, at that moment I could have agreed with Esco that hip-hop is dead if this is what things have come to.”

So if hip hop is dead MTV, who killed it? Make up your own mind, check out last year’s MTV LIST for yourself. And stay tuned because they’ve reconvened this year for a new one that’s about to come out tonight. All I know is this time Andre 3000 moved back to #9 from #4, Young Jeezy holds #8, T.I. is #10, and Soulja Boy just might make the list…

Little Brother to Officially Release the And Justus for All Mixtape

So I saw this story over at HipHopDX and I felt the record needed to be set straight on this.  First, LB is releasing a no DJ version of this mixtape from early 2007 minus how it was it was originally done by Mick Boogie.  We at HNL Hip Hop are HUGE Mick Boogie stans and feel that it needs to be said that a no-dj version of this mixtape is now what you normally would expect.  Normally that means just the music minus the yelling.  Mick does not yell on his tapes.  In fact, you rarely hear his voice, if ever.  The tapes are well laid out, with tasteful effects, and incredible exclusives…but they’re not your average no talent or mixing ability fool yelling over tracks like Clue? does.  I’m glad the music on this joint is getting the push it deserves but I don’t want to see Mick made out to be just another one of these suckas with no understanding or respect for what they do.  Mick’s one of the illest in the game and deserves better.

And just to prove this point you can download the original after the jump.

Yo! MTV Raps x Puma Release

It’s been a good day for clothing releases. There was a time I was really into what Puma was doing, and then they veered off in a direction I couldn’t follow. Looks like they’re coming back strong with these though…too bad MTV can’t make a comeback. Read more after the jump.

This Saturday marks the release of KICKS/HI’s summer ‘08 collection. If you live on O’ahu, best get there quick because this collection is straight heat. I imagine cats are going to be grabbing items in multiple color ways and possibly multiple amounts of individual items too. Either way, this collection is going to move fast.

T-Shit Depicts Obama as a Monkey

And would you believe that the guy selling these had the nerve to say that he didn’t mean for it to be racist but rather thought that the character resembled Barack?
