Nas Changes His Upcoming Album Title

That’s right, it has just been confirmed that Nas has changed his controversially named upcoming album, originally titled “Nigger”, to just Nas.

“A representative for Def Jam has confirmed to EW.com that hip-hop artist Nas has made an eleventh-hour decision to change the title of his new album from N—– to simply Nas.”

Read the whole story on Entertainment Weekly, the first to break the news.

Edit: Nas is now stalling Def Jam. If he can’t name the album what he wants to title it he’s threatening to not call it anything at all. For the record, isn’t that the same as self-titled? Well, if it helps him sleep better tonight.

If it helps to soften the blow here’s a leaked joint that came out today.

I knew he wouldn’t go through with it. But you have to give the guy credit for knowing how to stir up media buzz for his upcoming album. Float it out there that you’re going to use the most offensive and controversial word in American culture as the title for your new album and – POW! – instant media frenzy!

Controversy sells – plain and simple. Apparently even feigned controversy.
